Why is this important? Internet Explorer is very 'forgiving' and will often display a web site the way the designer intended, even when it doesn't adhere to the correct standards. Other browsers may not be so forgiving and designing a site that does not adhere to standards could cause problems in future versions of browsers.

Only sites that pass the W3C validation are permitted to display the above symbols.

We may or may not include the symbols on a site. As you can see we haven't included them on this site despite adhering to the correct standards. This is purely a design decision as we wanted to keep this site as simple and uncluttered as possible.
